Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Demo Beriša visited Rasina Administrative District and held a meeting with its Head Ivan Anđelić, Deputy Mayor Snežana Radojković, and representatives of the municipalities of Rasina District: Trstenik, Varvarin, Brus, Aleksandrovac and Ćićevac.
The meeting was a perfect place for Minister Beriša to hear not only about the current problems but also about the achieved results of the life improvement measures in the field of social protection, above all.
Beside this topic, there were discussions about the status of vulnerable groups (people with disabilites, war veterans, and Romani people) and the ways of improving the demographic status of Rasina District.
Minister Beriša reminded everyone that this was the ninth administrative district he had visited since becoming the Minister.
“Dialogue is formed by talking about important social questions with people on sites and location, so to adequately respond to problems and challenges they face daily. Our mission is to help citizens, to explain to them everything about human rights and build a system of social values based on understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect”, said Minister.
Minister Beriša explained that Kruševac is a city with good practice in regards to solving problems and implementing measures that aim to improve the quality of life locally, adding that his Ministry would continue to work with the citizens of Serbia’s best interests in the the area of human rights and freedom.
After the meeting, Minister handed Formal Acknowledgements for their exceptional dedication to human and minority rights and freedom protection, to the City of Kruševac and Rasina Administrative District (on their behalf, Deputy Mayor Radojković and Head of Rasina Administative District Anđelić received the Minister’s Acknowledgements).
The present officials then continued to the Assembly Hall where a forum named “Affirmation of Social Dialogue in Local Communities” was held. The participants agreed that informing the citizens about their own rights is the most efficient and needed way for them to realize and protect their rights, in addition to continuing the joint activities aimed at improving the normative frames and environment, all in order to achieve a successful social dialogue between all beneficiaries.
Minister Beriša concluded his visit with a tour of Community Center in the Romani neighborhood “Marko Orlović”. This was a good opportunity to again focus on the significance of offering additional support to the members of Romani community regarding the problems they face.
