As a part of the Youth Camp organized by the City of Kruševac, a maple tree was planted in Friendship Park, with the diaspora Youth Park participants present, after which they all moved to another location (student dormitory building “Pane Đukić Limar”) where they planted another tree.
Representatives of the City were Mayor’s Aide for Youth and Sport Nevena Plavšić and Mayor’s Aide for Social Activities Snežana Aleksić.
The traditional Tree of Friendship – the maple tree, will be a beautiful addition to Friendship Park. This is the second tree (the previous one was planted the previous year) on this location, which will become a reminder of the friendships formed during the Youth Camp.
After the Anthem of Serbia, symbolizing the unity of Serbian people no matter where they lived, the official program started with the Mayor’s Aide Nevena Plavšić holding a speech.
“The Youth Park is organized through the Ministry without portfolio responsible for coordination of activities and measures in relationship with diaspora.
This camp is more than a simple gathering of people. This is an opportunity for all participating to strengthen their links to their homeland and get into contact with our rich tradition and cultural heritage through spending time with each other, playing and learning.
Moreover, they will form unforgettable memories that will, hopefully, stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
She closed out her speech quoting Minister Đorđe Milićević: “Unique, wherever you might be, and may this Tree of Friendship live forever”.
The program was organized by Cultural Center of Kruševac.
The goal of the Ministry without Portfolio responsible for coordination of activities and measures in relationship with diaspora is to safekeep Serbian language and identity, as well as learning more about the important landmarks of Kruševac and its area. The Youth Camp closing night in Kosovo Heroes Square, saw joint parade and performances of 11 Cultural-Art Groups from diaspora and Kruševac – more than 250 participants.
Three-day-long “Youth Camp – Kruševac 2024” was officially closed with the performance of the pop band “Magla bend”.
