Serbia today celebrates Serbian Armed Forces Day, a holiday dedicated to the historical tradition, state-forming role, and contemporary tasks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia.
Regarding the holiday, the Mayor of Kruševac Ivan Manojlović sent congratulations and a message to the Serbian military members.
“Dear members of the Serbian Armed Forces, on behalf of the City of Kruševac and myself, I wholeheartedly congratulate you Serbian Armed Forces Day, respectfully and in awe of your honorable and dedicated service.
Remembering the glorious tradition and historical legacy that you have been nurturing since the times of the Second Serbian Uprising, we thank you for everything you have been doing to secure the peace, safety, and dignity of our country.
Your dedication, courage, and professional approach represent the pillar of stability, which makes every Serbian full of pride.
The City of Kruševac, as a city with rich history and state-forming tradition, respectfully keeps the memory of all those who defended their homeland throughout centuries alive, in addition to supporting the modern generations of soldiers who aim to gracefully continue that tradition.

Today’s date was chosen as a token of respect to the start of the Second Serbian Uprising (1815 in Takovo), under the leadership of Miloš Obrenović. This event marked one of the key elements that led to the creation of modern Serbian state and its military.
The Kruševac Garrison of the Serbian Armed Forces have been celebrating this occasion since 2012 with a wreath-laying ceremony.
On behalf of the City of Kruševac, Mayor Ivan Manojlović and President of City Assembly Dragana Barišić participated in the ceremony.
The delegation of the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces were represented by the Kruševac Garrison commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nenad Mitrović.
The representatives of the following groups and associations have also taken part in today’s wreath-laying ceremony: Rasina Administrative District, Disabled War Veteran Association, Army Retirees Association, Pensioners Association “Car Lazar”, Freedom Traditions Association, Circle of Serbian Sisters, and United Pensioners of Serbia Party.
