School Equipment for Romani Primary School Students

City of Kruševac allocates a significant financial amount in order to improve education of Romani children, regulated by the Local Action Plan for Social Inclusion of Romani people of Kruševac.

In 2024, 4.490.000 RSD were allocated for the implementation of the Local Action Plan, which includes the following:

• School meals for 167 Romani Primary School students who are recipients of Social Welfare or Children financial aid;
• Transport of 25 Secondary School students who are recipients of Social Welfare, Children finacial aid, or have 3,00 – 5,00 grade point average, to and from their respective schools;
• gift boxes – school equipment for every Primary School student (386 students).

The giveaway was held in Primary School “Dragomir Marković”, which is the school with the most Romani students (70). The school was host to the event, which also included a short program related to human rights and the importance of multicultural environment, as December 10 is the International Human Rights Day. Dalibor Nakić, president of the National Roman Minority Council, was in attendance, in addition to Mayor’s Aide Snežana Aleksić, on behalf of the City of Kruševac.

“Dragomir Marković” also has two pedagogy assisstants who take part in providing support to Romani students in the educational system, and this school is known for having the long tradition of diversity appreciation.
