Râmnicu Vâlcea, а Twin City of Kruševac, celebrated its most important national holiday on July 29 – National Anthem Day. For that reason, Râmnicu Vâlcea was visited by Mayor’s Aide for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy Ana Prvanov and PR Coordinator Marina Đorđević.
The main event was held in Trayan’s Arena, where the Twin City delegations, representatives of the Râmnicu Vâlcea county and city itself, and others held speeches regarding the City Day.
On behalf of Mayor Manojlović, the message and acknowledgement was read and handed to the Mayor Gutau by Mayor’s Aide Prvanov.
“Through these mutual visits, we confirm the strength of our friendly relations, formed by our citizens and cities.
We are ready to, through reciprocal respect and understanding, strongly build the bridges of cooperation, for the benefit of both Romanian and Serbian citizens. In the spirit of this holiday that celebrates courage, dignity, and patriotism, I wish to Mayor Gutau and every citizen of our Romanian Twin City peace, health, and prosperity”.
After the conclusion of speeches, guests and hosts participated in the walk from the City Hall to Zavoy Park, where the national anthem of Romania “Wake up, Romanian!” was performed on July 29, 1848. The anthem was composed by Anton Pan who was born in Râmnicu Vâlcea, and an artistic showcase was performed in front of the composer’s house where he lived.
A Military-Church ceremony was held in Zavoy Park, with the City Choir performing the national anthem of Romania.
The final event was the Formal Council Session held in the City Hall of Râmnicu Vâlcea, where Mayor of Râmnicu Vâlcea Mircia Gutau greeted the members of Twin City delegations and exchanged gifts.
Besides the City of Kruševac, other Twin Cities from Greece, Moldova and Czechia participated in the National Anthem Day celebration in Râmnicu Vâlcea.
“Wake up, Romanian!” became a symbol of freedom, sovereignty, and unity of Romanian people. Râmnicu Vâlcea has always highlighted its role in the creation of this important national symbol through various formal religious, military, spiritual and artistic events and programs.
