Kruševac was visited by the Director of the Republic Geodetic Authority Borko Drašković and his associates, along with the representatives of “Lantmäteriet” Swedish agency for cartography, cadastre, and land ownership registration. Their visit was organized in order to present the effects of their cooperation within the „ePlan4eSpace – SmartSDI“ project.
Deputy Mayor Snežana Radojković addressed the attendees:
“City of Kruševac signed the Business-Technical Agreement linked to this project, together with the Republic Geodetic Authority, with the support of the Swedish Agency for Developmental Cooperation” (SIDA).
In times of fast technological development, cities and municipalities must find ways to become more efficient, transparent, and closer to citizens and their needs. That is why digitalization, modern geo systems, and smart data management have become one of the key foundations of a modern self-government.
This project is a special one to Kruševac. It is not a simple feat of technological innovation, but a tool that will help in achieving better planning, faster resolution of administrative procedures, high-quality infrastructure management, and a broader legal safety of citizens and potential investors.”
Director Drašković gave more information about the project:
“A modern cadastre agencies should provide four important pieces of information: information about rights, about demands, values, and possibilities of lots.
With that in mind, we are transitioning to a more functional model. This is an example of institutions and local self-governments working together for the sake of citizens, economy, and development.
This project has been in the realization phase since 2024, with the assistance of the Government of Kingdom of Sweden and “Lantmäteriet”, and aim to jointly create development solutions that could be practically applied in real life situations, realistic administrative procedures, and functional self-governments.
More than 75 local self-governments are a part of the project. “Smart Lot” has more than 300 geo data at its disposal, offering citizens important information in one place: planning documentation and the authorities and responsibilities of institutions who issue construction conditions, with the end goal of improving the speed and safety with which the decisions are brought, within the legal and planning acts, of course.”
Director Drašković concluded that City of Kruševac was an example of the way local self-governments could become the main engines of change and an example of good practice.
On behalf of the Swedish agency, Mr. Kent Nilsson addressed the present audience.
He told that Sweden had 290 municipalities who are authorized in the field of urban planning. He added that the quality and range of data was always improving, as these were the foundations for economic development of every country. Mr. Nilsson also added that they had been working with the Republic Geodetic Authority of Serbia since 2004, jointly realizing multiple projects.
“We are proud of our cooperation and obtained experience that we proudly share with other partner states.”
On behalf of the Republic Geodetic Authority, Director Drašković handed a formal acknowledgement to the City of Kruševac for the successful cooperation, dedication, and contribution during the realization of joint activities within the project “ePlan4eSpace – SmartSDI” (Smart Lot).
