Bijeljina hosted the yearly traditional “Pantaleon’s Days” event, as a part of the City Day of Bijeljina – Patron Saint Pantaleon. The City of Bijeljina welcomed numerous Twin City and partner delegations, representatives of diplomatic corps, and other officials. City of Kruševac was represented by Mayor’s Aide for Sports and Youth Nevena Plavšić and Mayor’s Aide for Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry Darko Andonov.
The event started on August 8, with the reception in the Grand Hall of the City Hall of Bijeljina, where a meeting and gift exchange took place. The delegations moved to King Peter I Karađorđević Square, where a wreath-laying ceremony was held, as a tribute to the fallen freedom fighters.
As a part of the Formal Academy, a cultural-artistic program was organized, with the city’s history and tradition as the main motif.
On the second day, a Holy Liturgy and service was held in the Saint Pantaleon Church and Saint George Church, respectively. The ceremony concluded with the walk through the city streets and by breaking ceremonial bread in front of the City Hall of Bijeljlina.
This year’s celebration solidified the strong bond Bijeljina has had not only with Twin City of Kruševac but also other Twin Cities, as well as highlighted the importance of nurturing the cultural and spiritual tradition of the City itself.
