After the formal reception in the Mosaic Hall, the participants of this year’s Youth Camp organized a parade through the city. Clothed in the traiditional wear, the participants danced in a precise choreography along the street towards the Monument to Kosovo Heroes. Minister without portfolio (for overseeing the status, proposing measures, and participating in diaspora activities) Đorđe Milićević was in attendance, along with the representatives of the City of Kruševac.
Mayor Ivan Manojlović formally declared the Camp opened:
“Kruševac is the right place to learn about Serbia. Here you will get to know the city that has been the symbol of statehood, freedom, and national unity for centuries. I am sure that over the coming days you will learn something you have not known before, get to know new people, and create new memories that will be with you forever.
Dear children, I wish you to spend unforgettable days in Kruševac, to learn a lot, to make a lot of new friends, sing, create, and bring the most important aspect back – the feeling of belonging, unity and pride of your roots.”
Mayor Manojlović thanked the present Minister Milićević for recognizing the importance of this event, for investing into the young generations, and for choosing Kruševac for the Youth Camp.
Minister Milićević thanked Mayor Manojlović and his team for the openness and willingness to organize this event, stating that Kruševac was very important on the national map of Serbia:
“There is an unbreakable bond between Kruševac and Vidovdan. It is a symbol of history, tradition, legacy of Prince Lazar… We are sending a clear message – dance, song, unity! The Serbian identity lives through you outside the borders of Serbia!”, concluded Minister Milićević.
Numerous citizens gathered to watch the performances, some also joined the festivities and dances.
