On Januray 6, Mayor Manojlović brought in the Christmas Badnjak tree into the City Hall, as per Christian Orthodox tradition, in the presence of the directors of public companies and institutions, and other representatives of the public and political spheres of the City. The rite itself was performed by the Archepiscope of the Eparchy of Kruševac, David Petrović.
In his speech, Archepiscope David reminded about the sacrifice of Lord Christ, and of the obligation of his followers to follow his way and respect his values and tenets, and called all citizens to welcome the most joyous Christian holiday in harmony and filled with Godly love, wishing the present people to continue their work for the City with success, strength, good will and wisdom.
Mayor Manojlović also sent his best wishes to everyone, highlighting the forgiveness, harmony and unity as the foundation of the Christian Orthodoxy, inviting all citizens to “improve the City itself and help one another in sickness and in health”.
The Archepiscope and the Mayor congratulated the citizens of Kruševac the biggest Christian holiday – Christmas with the traditional greeting – Mir Božji, Hristos se rodi! (Peace of God, Christ has been born!)
