The role of a public advocate is to relentlessly fight for the citizens’ rights and freedom through the institution’s authority and reputation. A decision or procedure that is not popular among the citizens cannot be overturned or changed by itself. Through argumentation and authority, the Public Advocate must convince the higher-ups that there has been a possible oversight, and persuade them to fix the problem and change the faulty ways in which something may be done.
