On June 28 a new bust was revealed on the Actors’ Square, the bust of the famous Serbian actor, writer, director, theater professor, and one of the founders of the Kruševac Theater Bora Mihailović. The Award for Extraordinaray Theater Achievement is named after him, in honor of him and his theater achievements.
On that occasion, Director Branislav Nedić addressed the gathered people:
“To have the honor of managing Kruševac Theater means to be aware daily of the fact that you inherited something from visionaries who had created this institution. That is why this is not a formality to me, but a chance to, on behalf of all the actors and workers of his theater, say thank you.
Today, we are revealing a bust of our Kruševac Theater great but confirming that we remember the poeple who believed that theaters could change and educate cities.
Thanks to these people, Kruševac Theater has a rightful place in the cultural life of Serbia. Bora had the privilege and courage to start a theater, and our mission is not less important: to keep this theater safe and worthy of its origin. To maintain it and keep it ready to nurture the future generations of directors, writers, and actors, because when its people who believe in the truth and freedom of a stage grow, the theater grows, as well.”
After Director Nedić’s speech, a shorter monologue followed, performed by Kruševac Theater actor Nebojša Vranić.
Later, Mayor Ivan Manojlović and the Mihailović family revealed the bust.
The bust of Bora Mihailović was sculpted by Zoran Ivanović.
