Kruševac was the host of the final stage of the international bicycle race “Race Through Serbia”. Around 80 cyclists competed for World Ranking points – essential for qualifying for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
On behalf of City of Kruševac, the final stage in Kruševac was attended by Deputy Mayor Snežana Radojković and Mayor’s Aide for Youth and Sports Nevena Plavšić.
Deputy Radojković thanked for the expressed trust to give Kruševac the honor of being the host of the final stage of the race:
“It is a great honor and effort to have organized the final stage on the highest level possible. We wish to help both the youngsters and the old enthusiast to take the first steps and dedicate themselves to the world of cyclists, learning more about it along the way. By learning more about this sports, we can become better hosts in the future”.
Race Director and the President of Cycling Federation of Serbia Dušan Gojić thanked the City for its hospitality and ceremony:
“Around 80 cyclists participated, the Serbian cyclists were very good. Beside the neighboring countries, we had participants from Indonesia, Algeria, Italy, Austria, Bosnia and Hercegovina, as well as the members of the national teams of Serbia and Hungary. We have tried to bring at least one or two teams from every country to participate”.
Mayor’s Aide Plavšić expressed happiness for the city being chosen to be the host of the final stage:
“This race that connects cities, peoples, and states, is a symbol of perseverance, strength, and unity – the values that our city cultivates and promotes. Today we celebrate team spirit, sports, friendship, and fair play. Every participant of this race, no matter in which position they finish, is a winner who showed courage, discipline and willingness to go past their limits. I want to thank the organizers, the Cycling Federation of Serbia, the volunteers and everyone who contributed to the flawless execution of this event. Thank you, citizens, for being here and showing your hospitality and love for sports. Cyclists, I congratulate you for your exceptional success and I hope you have created wonderful memories of our city and have found motivation for new victories”.
After a short program, Deputy Radojković and Mayor’s Aide Plavšić handed the awards and gifts to the winners during a ceremony.
Cycling Federation President handed an acknowledgement, as token of appreciation, to Kruševac for hosting the final stage. On behalf of the City, Deputy Radojković accepted the award.
Winner of the final stage “Jagodina – Kruševac” (116 kilometers) was the Serbian NT cyclist Mihajlo Stolić, while the overall winner of the three-day “Race Through Serbia 2025” race was Lorenzo Cataldo, an Italian cyclist.
Lorenzo Cataldo expressed satisfaction with the performance of himself and his team, attributing the victory to the joint effort:
“I am very happy with my performance today. even though I finished second in sprint, but I cannot be disatisfied by the final placement. I feel great, the season is over, I will take two weeks off and then it is time to start preparing for the next season”.
