Kruševac is known as a city of history but it is also a city of art. City that has theater ancestors. contemporaries and descendents who proves that it has a rich talent pool. The famous, late Radmila Živković has now become a part of that eternal identity, with the reveal of a Window of Memory and bust.
Director of Kruševac Theater Branislav Nedić reminded the crowd of Radmila’s body of work:
“Her acting career lasted more than five decades. She was a member National Theater of Belgrade since 1984, which is just a part of her theater story. She played roles in more than a hundred theater plays, worked with most imporant directors of her time, and the audience loved her. Her filmography is full of cult classics. She was recognizable, and never predictable.
She received highest art awards, but all those medals and charters do not speak highly enough of the things that made Radmila special and unique: her authenticity, courage, humor and sincerity do”.
Mayor Manojlović also addressed the crowd.
“It is my pleasure and honor to be here, in the place that keeps the spirits of theater and our theater legends, and reveal Radmila’s Window of Memory. This piece of art will stand witness of her time, and she will continue to live through it, as a reminder for future generations. Today, Radmila Živković is present through our memories, bust, and Window of Memory near the Kruševac Theater.
This is not only a monument of her, it is a motivation to all future generations wishing to become actors to continue on the path and spread the glory of our city.
We are happy to have been her contemporaries”.
After Director Nedic and Mayor Manojlovic’s speeches, Radmila’s biography was read.
Radmila Živković was born in Kruševac in 1953. In her youth, she showed exceptional sharpness, talent, and knack for acting. She knew what she would like to express herself through art and performance in Secondary Grammar School, and she managed to shape and leave the audience in awe through hundreds of roles in TV and theater worlds of Serbia.
She graduated from Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, but never stopped talking about her origins and city. While speaking about herself, she spoke about Kruševac, the values, language, and smell of the theater stage of the city…
Actress Bojana Bambić, Radmila’s daughter, on the revela stated that it was a special and touching moment for her.
“I have been included in the development and creation of the Window and bust for some time, being consulted and helping the artists choose reference photos.
As the Mayor said, we do not want to speak about Radmila that “she was” a part of this city. We do not want to just remember her, she is here and will be here. She was sharp-tongued and sharp-minded, she always knew what she wanted. In her manner, I will say to you what she would have said. If she stood here, looking at her bust and Window of Memory, she would say: My beatiful city, I deserved nothing less, and I did not expect something better or smaller than this.
