Due to Armistice Day of World War I, a wreath-laying ceremony took place on November 11th at the “Car Lazar” Military barracks.
On behalf of the City of Kruševac, Deputy Mayor Snežana Radojković and President of the City Assembly Dragana Barišić took part in the wreath-laying ceremony.
Other delegations that participated in the ceremony were: Garrison Command of Kruševac led by Commander Colonel Milinko Nenadović, Head of the Rasina Administrative District Ivan Anđelić, representatives of SUBNOR, Association of Army Officer Reserves, Army Veteran Association, Army Retiree Association, Freedom Tradition Association, Retiree Association “Car Lazar”, and Serbian-Russian Friendship Association “Sveslavica”.
By signing the Armistice on November 11th, 1918, the battles between the countries of Entente and Germany, and World War I, the most destructive war the world saw at the time, officially ended. During World War I, 17 million people lost their lives, including 10 million soldiers.
Serbia suffered the most casualties, when taking into account the size of the country and population. Total number of casualties in Serbia was 1,2 million people, or 28 percent of population in 1914 (402 thousand people were military casualties and 845 thousand were civilian casualties).
